Siemens Healthineers Collaborates with Stryker to Elevate Robotic Neurovascular Interventions

Siemens Healthineers

Siemens Healthineers and Stryker have unveiled a strategic partnership in neurovascular robotics, aiming to create an advanced robotic system capable of handling a full spectrum of elective and emergency neurovascular procedures, including stroke and aneurysm treatments. The collaboration unites Siemens Healthineers, a leader in robotics and image-guided therapy, with Stryker, a pioneer in neurovascular technologies. Together, they will focus on multiple development areas, including robotic system design, integration of access devices and implants, imaging for precise robotic navigation, and optimization of procedural workflows.

Today, many neurovascular procedures require physicians to simultaneously manage multiple systems and tools, which can add complexity and reduce efficiency. By bringing robotics, imaging, and therapeutic devices together in a single ecosystem, Stryker and Siemens Healthineers aim to enhance physician performance, improve procedural precision, and enable faster treatment. This will help improve patient outcomes in both complex hemorrhagic cases and time-sensitive ischemic strokes. The initial phase of the partnership will focus on co-developing the integrated ecosystem and validating its clinical value in collaboration with leading physicians.

“Neurovascular diseases – primarily strokes and aneurysms – carry a massive global burden. Stroke is the second-leading cause of death and the third-leading cause of disability in adults globally,” said Carsten Bertram, head of Advanced Therapies at Siemens Healthineers. “We are excited to announce this partnership, especially with Stryker, a leading player in the field of neurovascular care. Together, we are uniquely positioned to create an ecosystem of image-guidance, robotics and devices. This meaningful innovation will enable physicians to deliver more precise and timely care to patients around the world.”

“Stryker and Siemens Healthineers have the joint goal to advance neurovascular care through innovation,” said Jim Marucci, president of Stryker’s Neurovascular division. “By combining our deep expertise in stroke therapy devices with the leadership of Siemens Healthineers in robotics and imaging, we aim to simplify workflows, enhance precision, and accelerate care. Together, we are taking an important step toward transforming how neurovascular procedures are performed – and ultimately, working to improve outcomes for patients worldwide.”
