Virgin Atlantic Cargo approves the use of RLP and RAP containers to develop its pharmaceutical and life science offering

Virgin Atlantic Cargo has approved the use of Envirotainer’s Releye RLP and RAP containers on its aircraft as part of efforts to develop its pharmaceutical and life science offering.

The airline said that the container offers live tracking of location as well as temperature, humidity and product condition, all of which can be monitored centrally.

The container can also maintain temperatures for more than one week.

The RAP version of the Releye container – launched in February – is the largest model of the container and can hold five pallets, compared with the existing 2021 RLP’s three pallets.

“These added solutions offer the most cargo space per fuel unit and have the smallest CO2 footprint of all options on the market, thanks to its low weight, large cargo space and outstanding reliability,” the partners added in a press release.

David Hall, global account manager, pharma sales at Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said: “We are committed to providing the best solutions in the market and these latest additions will further enhance our Active Container offering, giving customers even more choice when looking for reliable options to meet the evolving demands of the supply chain.”

Lufthansa Cargo also recently announced it is now offering Envirotainer’s Releye RAP container.
