In a strategic move set to redefine the medical tourism landscape in the region, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burjeel Holdings, one of the MENA region’s leading super-specialty healthcare providers. This partnership aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a premier global destination for medical tourism by combining world-class healthcare with seamless international connectivity.
The agreement was formalized by Dr. Muntaser Husein, Director of Health and Wellbeing at Etihad Airways, and Dr. Mohammad Qaddoura, COO, Abu Dhabi Emirate and Oman at Burjeel Holdings. The collaboration focuses on enhancing medical accessibility for international patients while also ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for Etihad employees and their families across the UAE.
“This collaboration will streamline medical services for international travelers seeking specialized treatment in Abu Dhabi,” said Dr. Muntaser Husein. “It also allows us to provide our workforce with exceptional care by offering access to some of the most advanced medical services in the region.”
Under the MoU, Burjeel Holdings will provide direct referral pathways for international patients, facilitating access to its extensive network of hospitals and specialty centers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. These include services in oncology, organ transplants, pediatrics, neuro care, orthopedics, fertility, and more. The initiative ensures direct case management and clinician access, enhancing the overall patient experience.
Additionally, Burjeel will support Etihad’s employee wellness programs by introducing health awareness initiatives and delivering wellness lectures. Etihad employees and their families will benefit from priority access and streamlined medical procedures within Burjeel’s facilities.
