Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of Dubai Health Authority, DHA, officially inaugurated the 1st edition of the Men’s Health Congress, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the DHA, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai Healthcare City.
Following the opening ceremony, Humaid Al Qatami accompanied by Abdulla bin Sougat, Executive Director of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Medical Sciences, and a number of key government and private officials toured the exhibition area where they were briefed about the latest advances and best treatment mechanisms employed in the field of men’s health, while learning about the latest technologies used in the treatment of issues related to men’s health.
During his keynote speech, Al Qatami said, “The list of diseases targeting men extends day after day, which reflects the increase of the demand by the concerned organizations in the world that calls for preserving men’s health in general. This is connected directly to the first step of the prevention process, which means that we urgently need a preventive methodology in the first place, especially with the exacerbation of cancer, transmitted diseases, and a series of mental diseases associated with the stress that we face in our daily life.”
He added, “The Dubai Health Authority understands the need for comprehensive solutions and the necessity to maintain a healthy lifestyle for all family members. It also believes in the necessity to develop the existing methods that are used to combat diseases that target men, especially those diseases that men may inadvertently transmit to other family members.
“Therefore, we insist that we are in great need to develop research and studies related to the number of diseases threatening men, as well as to update awareness, diagnostic, treatment and prevention methods. This is precisely our priority at the DHA, as it is eager to protect all members of society.”
More than 30 world renowned speakers representing various fields of medicine including, cardiologists, endocrinologists, psychiatrists, urologists and nutritionists delved deeply into three core areas of men’s physical health, mental health and social well-being and cover various topics including male hormones, prostate cancer, stress, depression, anxiety and eating disorders among other key areas of concern for men.
